Bioinformatics & Genomics
I grew up in Orem, Utah, about 5 minutes away from Utah Valley University, where I was one of the first students to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics. I'm passionate about learning and science and have been interested in biology and the natural world since I was quite young. That grew into an interest in evolution and genomics, which made UVU's Bioinformatics program a natural fit for me. While at UVU I had the opportunity to get involved in undergraduate research, and found that I really enjoy it. I greatly enjoy problem solving and discovery, and the challenge of searching for answers is something I find really exciting.
Through the courses I've taken and research I've done, I've gained experience in the following areas:
Publications
Citations
Awards
Reading - My favorites are science fiction and fantasy, but I'm always open to recommendations!
Playing music - I'm a pianist and percussionist.
Listening to music - My favorite genres include alternative rock, pop, and soundtrack.
Art - I mostly do drawing. My earlier work featured sketching in pencil, sometimes adding color with either colored pencil or marker, though as of late my preference has been digital art. Most recently I've been working with Procreate.
Hanging out with my dogs - I have two dogs, Brego, a red golden retriever, and Shadow (short for Shadowfax), a bi-blue shetland sheepdog.
